Hurt By Abortion: Abortion Affects Mental Health Shows Fergusson Study

A group of researchers led by Professor David M. Fergusson who is the director of the longitudinal Christchurch Health and Development Study have been following the health, education and life progress of a group of 1,265 children in the Christchurch region since their births in mid-1977.

This 25-year study found that young women who have abortions subsequently experience elevated rates of suicidal behaviours, depression, substance abuse, anxiety, and other mental health problems. The higher rate of subsequent mental health problems could not be explained by any pre-pregnancy differences in mental health, which had been regularly evaluated over the course of the 25-year study

A Selfless Pro-Life Choice: Adoption as an Abortion Alternative

Adoption is truly a win/win/win situation. With adoption, the child "wins" because he or she is not only given the chance to live, but to live in a home with loving parents who can provide for his or her needs. Adoption is also a win for those couples who choose to adopt because they have the benefit of a precious new life to nurture.
Finally, adoption is a win for the birth mother because she benefits from knowing that she has made the mature and beautiful choice of giving life to a child, providing for that child by finding a safe and happy home, and selflessly sharing that new life with others. When adoptions are done right they are occasions for joy all around.......................Sadly , we do not spend enough time celebrating women who make such a mature and strong choice in favor of life.
